Most women experience menstrual cramps or irregular periods at some time in their lives. Tissue Salts are a natural remedy that restore balance and alleviate symptoms.

Tissue Salts are a safe, natural remedy suitable for many disorders and useful for menstrual problems. Tissue salts are also known as biochemic salts or cell salts. The 12 specific salts created and used by Dr Schuessler in his healing treatments, are minerals that are found in our bodies, and in the soil and rocks of the earth. Their names are abbreviated e.g. Calc. Flor , Calc. Flos. and Nat. Mur.

When we are in good health, the minerals are balanced, however when there is even a slight deficiency, problems may occur. Tissue salts containing these minerals can help to bring the body back into balance naturally and without side effects. They are considered a nutritional therapy, although taken in homeopathic doses.

Tissue salts can be used to treat many disorders, and are a safe and natural remedy for period problems. Take tissue salts half an hour before or after food or drinks apart from water. Place the tablets under the tongue and allow them to dissolve.

Heavy Periods

When menstrual flow is heavy and there is pain in the lower abdomen that almost feels like bearing down, lie on your back with knees bent and place a hot water bottle on the abdomen. Take 2 Calc. Flor. tablets under the tongue. Take another 2 after half an hour and then another 2 an hour later. 2 Ferr. Phos. tablets can be taken three times a day for the duration of the period.

If menstrual pain is much more severe than usual, or accompanied by fever, speak to your doctor

Menstrual Cramps

Many women and particularly teenagers experience menstrual cramps or pain. Two days before the period is due, take 1 Calc. Phos. tablet and 1 Mag Phos. tablet four times a day. This will help to prevent pain. If menstruation has already started, the same remedies may help to alleviate the discomfort.

PMS

If you regularly suffer from premenstrual syndrome, three days before menstruation is due, start taking Kali. Phos. with Mag. Phos. Take 2 tablets three times a day until the end of the period. This will help to balance the mood dips and swings.

Irregular Menstrual Cycle

If stress or unhappiness is also part of the problem, Nat. Mur. will help. Take 2 tablets five times a day until the mood lifts. Speak to a doctor if there is spotting or bleeding between periods.

Late Periods

When periods are late and very light, often accompanied by a headache, Kali. Sulph. can be helpful to bring the body back into harmony. Take 2 tablets four times a day from the beginning of menstruation and over the next month.

Are Tissue Salts Safe?

You cannot overdose on tissue salts as the concentration of minerals is minute. The dosage is calculated according to the disorder and the way that the body responds to the treatment. Increasing the dose would not help; however, taking too many would not prove toxic.

Tissue salts are available in good health food shops and homeopathic pharmacies. A web search will show Dr Schuessler Tissue Salts can be ordered on-line.

You can get them at most Health Stores. They should be in the section with the medicines for colds, flu, headaches etc.

Tissue Salts are basically homeopathic remedies and come in the form of small dissolvable pellets, coated in the remedy. They have a light sweet taste and they absorb fast. Because the remedy is on the Outside of the pellet, try not to handle them, pour directly from the lid into your mouth. Let them dissolve under the tongue, do not chew and delay swallowing, because they absorb faster from under the tongue. It doesn't hurt to swallow them, but they work better the longer you keep them in your mouth. Try to avoid food or beverages for about 10 minutes before you take them and 10 minutes after for best results. Hope this helps.
